Anne Burrell
Anne W. Burrell was an actress on television, ex-chef in the Institute of Culinary Education and formerly teaches cooking. She is host of Secrets of a Restaurant Chef on Food Network. Food Network. With her signature spiky blond hair and bubbly personality Anne Burrell eliminates the intimidation of eating out and offers simple, easy-to-learn techniques for the at-home cook in her Food Network series Secrets of a Restaurant Chef. Chef Burrell also has worked in several of the city's most prestigious restaurants, has been studying Italian food, its culture and traditions as well as participated in Food Network's Iron Chef America. While growing up in New York's upstate region, Burrell became passionate about food and cooking. She pursued her love of working in the restaurant business by enrolment at The Culinary Institute of America after obtaining a degree in English and Communication from Canisius College, Buffalo NY. I loved every minute that I was a student at The Culinary Institute of America she declares. It was difficult to master and do enough or put in the hours. After graduating, chef Burrell was in Italy for a whole year attending an Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners. Also, she was employed at La Taverna del Lupo and La Bottega del 30 (a Michelin highly rated restaurant) in Tuscany. While in Italy she came to comprehend and appreciate the philosophy behind Italian culinary and cultural traditions that has had a profound impact on her culinary point of view. Burrell was the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board participant, with the goal of to enhance living conditions for children who face obstacles. Burrell also serves as a Juvenile Disease Research Foundation (JDRF) celebrity ambassador and advocates awareness of childhood diabetes. She is a frequent guest speaker at conferences and travels the country to mentor others in her role. Anne said she felt lucky that I could communicate her love of cooking to other people.
