Jennifer Carpenter Bio

American actress Jennifer Leann Carpenter, born December 7th, 1979. She is most well-known for her role in the roles of Debra Morgan and Rebecca Harris in Showtime's Dexter. In 2019, she started as Erica Shepherd (the lead role in NBC's drama The Enemy Within). Carpenter's performance in The Exorcism of Emily Rose was her first major success. Carpenter won the 2006 MTV Movie Award, for "Best Frightened Performer" and a Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award. She was also named Breakout Performer during the 2006 Scream Awards. In 2007, she began dating her Dexter co-star Michael C. Hall. They were married in California on New Year's Eve 2008. Hall and Carpenter announced in December of 2010 that they had filed to divorce following separation "for some while". They also appeared together at the Golden Globe Awards 66th edition in January 2009. On February 10, 2015 it was announced that Carpenter and singer Seth Avett were engaged and expecting their first child. In August of 2015 it was discovered that Carpenter had given birth in the month of May to a son. She also admitted that she was eight-and-a-half months pregnant while filming the pilot episode of Limitless. Carpenter and Avett got married in May 2016.
